This is where the groundwork begins. In this stage, we dive into your brand's environment, conducting surveys and online research to gather initial insights. This lays the foundation for a more in-depth exploration of your brand's current identity and market positioning.

Visual direction strategy

We craft a roadmap for your brand's visual representation. This involves a three-point strategic direction covering colors, typography and any other brand element. Each strategic point is chosen based on research-backed insights, aligning with your brand's positioning. The outcome is a comprehensive strategy that guides the visual elements of your brand with a strategic purpose.

Laid out below is a sample visual direction strategy we developed for a client following this process.

We developed the following brand strategy for a high-end med spa based in Florida, US. Some details have been withdrawn as the project has not been officially launched yet.

VISSION:

To curate an elite, aesthetic lifestyle that confidently redefines and transcends ordinary med spa standards.

The target audience is a sophisticated clientele primarily based in Florida, USA, focusing on both male and female individuals, particularly the 35 to 55 age group with an income well above $150,000 annually. Their lifestyle emphasises success, leisurely pursuits like boating and upscale shopping, and active engagement in South Florida's upscale social scene. Decision-making is influenced by the alignment of experiences with their lifestyle, social media shareability, and the anticipation of positive results. Marketing strategies include influencer collaborations, engaging social media content showcasing exclusive events and fine dining experiences, and limited-time promotions to create a sense of urgency. Visuals embody sophistication, personal growth, and a connection with nature, utilising warm coloUrs, upscale event imagery, and serif fonts to convey an upscale aesthetic.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS SUMMARY:

All analysed competitors share a common focus on presenting a clean and clinical image, emphasizing professionalism and hygiene. Despite this visual consistency, each brand's distinct personality remains somewhat hidden, requiring a closer look to uncover unique traits. All competitors adhere to industry standards with a sophisticated and sterile appearance. However, the challenge lies in communicating their brand personalities effectively, as their initial impressions might not convey distinctive attributes.

[BrandName] is the premier med spa for high achievers who crave exclusive self-care experiences, offering a luxury wellness lifestyle through personalised, superior, aesthetic treatments.

VISUAL DIRECTION Strategy

Key Focus Area #1

FACT:

Most competitors adhere to a clean and clinical brand aesthetic that lacks immediate communication of their brand personalities.

INSIGHT:

To differentiate ourselves, it is important to visually articulate the unique character of our brand. By transparently conveying the brand’s personality and values, we enhance the likelihood of attracting an audience that aligns with our core values.

SOLUTION:

This can be achieved through the incorporation of deeper, more intense brand colors, symbolizing the luxury and opulence associated with the brand. In an industry where light neutral shades predominate, the use of distinctive and intense colors not only grabs attention but also effectively communicates the unique character and personality of the brand. This strategic approach facilitates seamless communication of our values, establishing a distinct presence that effortlessly attracts an audience appreciative of the brand's bold and opulent image.

The target audience is primarily composed of high-income earning individuals with exclusive tastes.

INSIGHT:

To cater to the preferences of the target audience, it is essential to develop a visual identity system that resonates with their exclusive tastes.

SOLUTION:

This can be achieved by opting for distinctive and sophisticated brand typography. Considering the age range of the target audience, visual design and typography characterized by uniqueness and signature elements will have a substantial impact, surpassing the effectiveness of subtle or discreet typefaces. This strategic approach aims to establish a highly memorable visual identity that aligns with the exclusive tastes of the high-income audience.

Key Focus Area #3

FACT:

The brand’s service structure and values are centred around their elite customer experience and hospitality, very much similar to hotels and resorts.

INSIGHT:

In order to curate a similarly relaxing, luxury atmosphere, we need to get inspiration from visual designs of boutique hotels and modern resorts.

SOLUTION:

This can be achieved by creating and integrating brand patterns, unique textures, or brand illustrations into the visual system, mirroring the aesthetic and ambiance found in upscale boutique hotels. Application of these elements in brand collateral and interior design will establish a visually compelling connection with the elite and exclusive atmosphere associated with luxury resorts.
